Initiating Theatre Presented by The Harag György Company

The Harag György Company of The Northern Theatre Satu Mare presents a new premiere Ratko József's Help the king! directed by Kányádi Szilárd and Tasnádi Csaba. The play, achieved by The Harag György Company in partnership with Móricz Zsigmond Theatre, Nyíregyháza, takes place on May 10 at 11a.m. in the amphitheatre of The House of Culture Satu Mare. With this show, the company launches a new genre, that of the initiating theatre.

The initiating theatre is a process of learning which aims to familiarize the audience with theatrical language. In other words, it initiates the audience into the world of theater and teaches it to read and observe the little signs, symbols founded in the plays. The signs, lights, sound, costumes, scenery, props, gestures, actors' mimics and their interventions forms a whole which cannot be observed by the uninitiated ones. Taking into account all these,  we can say that this kind of performance is useful even for those who are already initiated into the world of theater being able to discover other, much deeper, issues of the performances. The purpose of this performance is the formation of the audience and, also , the development of its theatrical taste.

Prince Imre, king István the First's son, dies , tragically in a hunting. Both the country and the royal family are in mourning. At the funeral there are gather both the whole Hungarian nation and princes of the Roman and the German Empire. Many of them ask the question: who succeeds the king if the only heir died.

The old mad king István the First is again between the two groups. Hungarian lords want that one of them succeed the king to the throne, grouping around Vászoly. But the representatives of Roman and the German Empire supports Orseolo Péter. The Hungarian Empress, Gizella gives orders to blind Vászoly, an order executed by Sebő, who is also employed by Vászoly's men to kill the king. But the bombing fails. The lords involved in the attack against the king are run.
