Scherer Péter

Péter Scherer joined the acclaimed Arvisura Company in 1985 and was one of its principal members, including among his roles Pilate (The Master and Margarita), Claudius (Hamlet) and Friar Francis (Much Ado About Nothing). In 1995 he worked as a freelancer, playing Macduff (Macbeth) and, notably, Snug in János Csányi’s staging of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This production led to the founding of the Bárka Színház, where his roles included Henrik (The History Plays), the Nothing-Doer/Tavern-Keeper ( Donna Rosita), Epihodov (The Cherry Orchard) and Scene Master (Six Characters in Search of an Author) . He has been a member of Krétakör Színház since 2002 and has played Oronte (The Misanthrope), Professor( Spectators’ Academy), Heimdall/Volker (The Nibelung Residency), Doctor (Kasimir and Karoline), Driver (Sorokin’s Ice) and Shamrayev (The Seagull). His other credits include Akim in an international production of Tolstoy’s The Power of Darkness. As one of Hungary’s foremost film actors, he has played leading parts in all Miklós Jancsó’s films since 1998.
