About the performance

New York, 1890. Mrs. Dolly Levi is a pretty young widow. She and her husband had an ideal love life, and since his death she has been lonely. She lives by matchmaking and a sort of "I can help you with anything" service. One of his clients is a difficult, grumpy Yonkers produce merchant, Horace Vandergelder, who has already found a match in Irene Molloy, the owner of a ladies' hat shop. But by marrying, Horace is looking for a servant rather than love. Dolly decides it's time to end her loneliness, and after some training, Horace will be her ideal husband. She devises a cunning plan whereby everyone finds their perfect match.
